Cargas to Moderate Democratic Energy Caucus in Dallas

HOUSTON (June 24, 2014) – Congressional candidate James Cargas will be moderating and presenting at the Energy Caucus of the Democratic Party Convention, being held in Dallas this weekend. The Energy Caucus will be Friday, June 27, at 1:00pm in Room C156 of the Dallas Convention Center.

This is the fourth time the Oil Patch Democrats have hosted the Texas Democratic Party’s Energy Caucus. The 2014 Caucus will feature:

Sharon Wilson of Earthworks‘ Oil and Gas Accountability Project
James Cargas, Energy Lawyer and Special Assistant to Sec. of Energy Bill Richardson
• Dr. Jim Rine, President of Oil Patch Democrats and Geologist

The panel will discuss a range of topics on energy policy impacting the November state and federal elections, including:

• Energy and water use
• Fracking pros and cons
• Climate change and its impact on Texas
• National energy policy myths vs. facts
• Carbon tax and what it is

James Cargas offers extensive public service experience. He has served in the U.S. House of Representatives as a deputy press secretary, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as a law clerk, Clinton White House as an aide, and U.S. Department of Energy under Secretary Bill Richardson as a political appointee. He currently serves Mayor Annise Parker as the Senior Assistant City Attorney for Energy for the City of Houston, a position he also held under Mayor Bill White. James is married to Dr. Dorina Papageorgiou, a neuroscientist who works in the Texas Medical Center.
