Jessica Farrar Endorses James Cargas

Texas House Democratic Leader supports Cargas for Congress
(Houston) July12, 2012: Texas House Democratic Leader Jessica Farrar has endorsed James Cargas in his runoff primary on July 31st.  Representative Farrar is the longest serving Hispanic member from Harris County serving in the Texas State House of Representatives and she has been a champion on wide range of issues including education, immigration, women’s rights, as well as many others since she was first elected in 1994.

James Cargas responded by saying, “I am happy to have the endorsement of State Representative Jessica Farrar.  She is a valuable legislator, who fights for better education for all of Texas children.  As the Democratic Leader of the Texas House of Representatives, she knows what it takes to be a great lawmaker.  Her long service has given her a chance to understand key issues that truly affect Congressional District 7, such as funding for education, the Affordable Care Act, as well as the need for alternative energy and fossil fuels. I look forward to her input as a Congressman, and am proud to have the endorsement of such a dedicated and influential woman.”

James Cargas offers substantial public service experience. He served as a Congressional aide, law clerk at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, a Clinton White House staffer, and a special assistant in the U.S. Department of Energy under Secretary Bill Richardson.  He is currently Senior Assistant City Attorney for Energy for the City of Houston.
