Today, as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we remain mindful of his legacy of fighting for justice and love for one’s neighbor. Dr. King understood that changing history requires hard work and sacrifice in the face of difficult odds. It is through his persistence and contagious compassion that we are inspired to continue his work into the future.

A diverse community such as ours is evidence of Dr. King’s vision. In Greater Houston, we enjoy one of the most diverse communities in the country. Yet, we must continue to fight for this privilege. We must not remain silent about the things that matter to us.
